Call for Proposals

In line with theatre's strategic vision for 2022 – that of building upon the site’s unique qualities whilst continuing to enhance its cultural calendar with top quality performances – and subject to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Pjazza Teatru Rjal is launching a Call for Proposals for the Artistic Calendar of 2022 (from January to December).
Individuals, theatre/dance/performance companies, cultural entities, private organisations or others who are interested in putting up productions at Pjazza Teatru Rjal during the calendar year 2022 are being invited to send their proposals by hand or by registered mail to The Director, Casa Cassar, Triq il-Vittorja, Valletta VLT 1050 or by email on by not later than Friday 15th October, 2021.

The proposal shall include:

  • ​Artistic biography or portfolio
  • ​Action plan
  • ​Technical rider, details of contractors (sound, light...) and stage plan
  • ​Other supporting material you might deem appropriate

All applications will be acknowledged and treated in the strictest confidence. Special weighting will be given to applications that satisfy the following criteria: 
  • ​applicant’s portfolio; 
  • ​artistic and/or educational and/or social content; 
  • ​effective use of space and resources; 
  • ​innovation; 
  • ​legacy; and
  • ​​marketing plan.​
PTR Board and Management are also interested in co-productions as well as contemporary art exhibitions. Apart from the quality of the works, criteria evaluation for contemporary art exhibitions will give great importance to its content, significance of the ideas, issues, and/or objectives as creative research in the visual arts and relevance of the artwork to contemporary art and visual culture.

Decisions will be communicated individually to the selected applicants together with an estimation of costs related to the rental of the venue. The decisions of the Board will be deemed final and undisputable. This will be followed by a production meeting to conclude all relevant details ahead of the drawing up of the formal agreement.​
